Personality; ( If there ever existed a person who could literally define the word ‘hero’, Kotetsu T. Kaburagi is your man. He is selfless to the very core, an example of a man who thinks more about others than he does for himself – even at cost of his own life. Though he works for HERO TV, a reality TV show, Kotetsu could care less about ratings or points. To him, HERO TV is simply an opportunity to save lives and protect the citizens of Sternbild whilst still supporting Kaede, his ten-year-old daughter. As such, he takes the Hero-business very seriously. (Even if he acts like the worlds biggest goof most of the time.)

As Wild Tiger – his superhero alias – Kotetsu has gained a reputation for himself as the “Crusher for Justice” due to his tendency to destroy buildings and public property while chasing down criminals or saving the citizens of Sternbild. (A habit his sponsors usually have to pay for...) He has stated numerous times that he will do whatever it takes to get the job done, even if it means damaging a building or two in the process – much to the chagrin of Apollon Media and his partner, Barnaby Brooks Jr. (Though sometimes it is not always on purpose, as he is quite clumsy.) Kotetsu is also very old-fashioned, preferring to wear a mask whenever he makes public appearances as Wild Tiger and stressing the importance of protecting Sternbild rather than earning points.

In terms of his partnership with Barnaby, Kotetsu is the yin to Bunny’s yang. Barnaby prioritizes on earning points and fame, whilst Kotetsu prioritizes on protecting civilians. Barnaby thinks logically before acting and Kotetsu would rather jump right into the fray without thinking ahead. At the start of their partnership, their differing attitudes also lead them to bicker and argue quite a bit. Kotetsu, at first, was not at all fond of his younger, arrogant, know-it-all of a partner. Barnaby’s near constant jabs at his lack of forethought and old-fashioned beliefs – as well as nicknaming him “Ojii-san” – got on Kotetsu’s nerves and he would often fight back with a childish “Bunny-chan”, complete by waving his hands around like rabbit ears.

Eventually, as they got to know and work together better, Kotetsu’s compassionate and kind-hearted nature caused him to warm up to his seemingly distant and independent partner. Though Barnaby was arrogant and selfish and all-around the kind of person Kotetsu didn’t necessarily like to associate with, he worked hard to gain the other’s trust. He values Bunny’s trust and faith in him, and in turn, places all of his own trust and faith in his partner. They still bicker, due to the fact that they are both stubborn and very much set in their own ways, but overtime it has lessened.

Kotetsu has shown multiple times that he will put his life on the line for Barnaby’s sake. He took a direct blow from Lunatic that was aimed directly at Barnaby, and at one point used his Hundred Power to heal some of his wounds in order to help Barnaby fight Jake Martinez – all at risk of his own health. (Doing so did, however, earn him the right to be called ‘Kotetsu’ by Barnaby.) He has even, at times, ignored his own personal problems in order to help Barnaby and the other Heroes with their problems.

Kotetsu, of course, is not without his own emotional baggage. Five years prior to the beginning of the story, Kotetsu lost his wife, Tomoe, to an illness. Despite the fact that he does not show it often, Kotetsu is still grieving over his loss. It is evident in his guilt and sadness over the start of losing his powers, as he made a promise to Tomoe to continue being a Hero and he worries about not being able to do that if his powers disappear completely. His relationship with his daughter, Kaede, has also been affected by this.

Kotetsu dotes on his daughter as much as possible and always tries to show her how much he loves and cares for her despite the fact that he does not see her often and he knows that she resents him for it. His only wish is to be seen as ‘cool’ by Kaede; a wish that is granted near the end of the series after the defeat of Maverick and after she finds out about his real job as a Hero. (He later returns as a Hero from retirement, due to the fact that Kaede calls him ‘uncool’ after lazing around the house all the time.)

Two years after the start of the series, Kotetsu hasn’t changed much. He is still as childish, stubborn, clumsy and old-fashioned as usual. His relationship with the other Heroes and with Barnaby, especially, has grown by leaps and bounds. His once childish “Bunny-chan”, aimed as an insult, has now turned into an affectionate nickname and he’s never seen too far away from the other half of Tiger and Bunny. Though they may still have their disagreements from time to time, Kotetsu considers Barnaby part of his family and cares for him deeply. )

Network Sample; ( I... a-ano ... have no idea where your robot is, Bunny... [ Kotetsu grumbles a little, looking somewhat nervous as he takes in the sight of his partner’s room. This is indeed a very rare sight – not to mention a slightly scary one. He is not particularly fond of incurring the wrath of one Barnaby Brooks Jr. A small, nervous laugh can be heard over the audio. ]
Well, ano ... you see ... I kind of knocked it over the other day! I didn’t mean to, of course, but you know me! Haha, clumsy as always. [ Another nervous little laugh. The camera on the call-bracelet angles up toward Kotetsu’s face, evidently to hide the little blue robot sitting on the coffee table. ]
So, why don’t you uh ... double check, neh? I did knock it over, so it could be under the chair or your bed or something! [ Does not try to correct Bunny, for he has more pressing matters to attend to. Kotetsu smiles nervously, nodding as he adjusts his hat. ]
E-Eh ... ?! But you’re all the way across town! Are you kid—W-Wait, why do I have to give it back if I don’t even have it?! [ Oh no, now he’s in trouble. The video shakes a bit, Kotetsu going in and out of focus as he scrambles to grab the robot and make a run for the door. ]

B-Bunny, seriously – eh?! Oi ... ! Don’t hang up on me!

Dammit ... [ An audible groan and another curse word can be heard before the video feed cuts off. ] )

Log Sample; ( “Sorry, excuse me!” A voice could be heard as one Kotetsu T. Kaburagi raced through the streets of Sternbild city, nearly bumping into an elderly woman and her grandson as he jogged past. He stopped briefly to turn, dancing on his feet, to make sure the woman was alright before quickly saluting her and the young boy with his free hand and carrying on his way again. In his other hand he carried a small, blue robot – the very same little robot in which a certain Barnaby Brooks Jr. had called about not two seconds before. Kotetsu had less than two minutes to get to the other side of town before his partner came looking for him and he wasn’t intending to let that happen.

Barnaby Brooks Jr., when angry, was not one to be trifled with. Kotetsu had felt such wrath more than once and was not at all willing to feel it again. Especially when it involved Bunny’s precious little toy robot that had been given to him by his parents. Kotetsu had accidentally knocked it over while visiting a few days beforehand and the fall had caused one of the arms to break off of the toy. Kotetsu had only taken it so that he could get it fixed before Bunny saw what happened and he had been hoping to return it before Bunny had even noticed that it was gone. He should’ve known better than to think that Bunny wouldn’t notice it in retrospect...

Nevertheless, Kotetsu had a schedule to uphold and he wasn’t planning to be late. Glancing at his watch, Kotetsu let out a curse and activated his Hundred Power. In an instant, his body and eyes began to glow a bright blue and his pace automatically quickened. That was one of the plus-sides of his NEXT power. Hundred Power could increase his abilities by one hundred and not only did that mean super-strength, but also super-speed!

Leaping into the air, Kotetsu made sure to keep a good hold on Bunny’s robot as he leapt over the rooftops. He didn’t want to break something that Barnaby held so dear – at least not again, anyway. If it was precious to his partner, then it was just as important for Kotetsu to return it to him as good as new and without any more damage. (If he could help it, at least! He wasn’t a complete clutz all the time, thank you.)

With thirty seconds to go, Kotetsu was making pretty good time. He had made it three-quarters of the way to Barnaby’s apartment. He grinned as he caught sight of it in the distance and sped up his pace. As he jumped from the last building across the street from Barnaby’s apartment block, he misjudged his footing and yelped loudly as he tripped and began to fall. He curled himself around the robot on instinct, protecting it with his own body as he hit the ground and rolled. Using the momentum, and moving like a trained professional should, he found his footing again and raced into the building. He skidded to a halt before the elevator, excitedly pressing the button and raising his hands in the air to shout, “SAFE!” just as the elevator doors opened and revealed a very irritated Bunny.
